Lend your expertise by volunteering to serve on an advisory board.  Citizen input is a critical component of a successful local government.  Your involvement can help direct the future of the City of Alamosa.

Applications are continually accepted for service.  If no openings are currently available, applicants will be notified when there is an opportunity.

Historic Preservation Advisory Committee
Desired qualifications include special interest or professional experience in a preservation related discipline, such as design, landscape architecture, architecture history, archeology history, planning, cultural geology, culture anthropology.  This committee makes recommendations to City Council in accordance with the City’s Historic Preservation ordinance.

Library Board  TWO SEATS AVAILABLE
This board advises City Council and the City Manager on all issues pertaining to the public library, including effective operation. 

Personnel Board
The Personnel Board hears appeals of disciplinary actions, and exercises final authority over these actions.  It may also consider recommended rules and regulations, and investigate conditions of employment.  Persons sitting on this board must not be an employee or related to any City of Alamosa employee; and must not have been so in the past 12 months.  Members of this board may not serve on any other City board. 

Planning Commission
Duties of the Planning Commission are to prepare and submit to the Council for its approval a master plan for the physical development for the City; and to advise the Council on zoning, subdivisions, annexations, major public and private projects, public works matters, city buildings, capital outlay budgeting and long range planning.  This commission also acts as the Zoning Board of Adjustment to hear requests for zoning variances.  Members of this Commission must have been a City resident for at least two years prior to appointment.

Ranch Board
The Ranch Board provides advice to Council on issues surrounding the management of the Alamosa Ranch properties, including water issues, the coexistence of recreation and ranching activities, weed control, planning and other management issue.

Recreation Advisory Board
This board is charged with advising administrative functions relating to operation of city parks, recreational facilities and programs.

Tree Board
The Tree Board provides advice to council on issues surrounding the planting, care, and maintenance, including replacement, of trees on City owned property and rights of way.
